Peer Review - I think Kira executed my design really well. I don't like the images, but I think that's because I don't like the design, and also, it's difficult for me to judge a look when it's on myself. Kira lacked a lot of confidence during the assessment, and I think this is from self doubt, not that she technically can't achieve what she wants to.
Kira followed the instructions well, and despite us both being quite flustered on the day I think we have done well. I don't enjoy creating historically accurate designs, no do I enjoy executing them.
Brows - Blocking technique, then on top Mac Morning Coffee
I am heavily inspired by a red, rustic eye. I think this would be a different approach for Frl Kost, as I don't think she would have had a dark eye, nor do I think she would have been of a natural appearance.
Hair Design
This is the hair style I am going to choose, but because I want her to be icy blonde, I am going to have to style a wig.
How to step by step
How to block out brows
First of all, you have to comb through the brows with a mascara wand, and make sure there are no traces of makeup. Then take a pritstick, and rub it in to the brows, going against the natural hair growth and then back along to smooth them out. Using a spatula, push the hairs upward toward the forehead, and then repeat using the mascara wand and fingers to make sure the hairs are completely flat to the skin.
Leave to dry, then apply a skin coloured pressed powder on top, and pat down until the hairs are almost completely covered. Do this until you feel that the area is covered enough. Take your spatular, and scoop out a generous helping of a matte concealer in a colour as close to the natural skin tone as possible. Spread along the brow and use a brush to blend out the edges, apply a translucent powder on top and leave to set before drawing on top.
Here are some videos that I found on youtube, and found incredibly helpful when blocking out brows. It is much easier after lots of practise to achieve the desired outcome, it really is something that takes practise. I preferred using prit stick as opposed to cinewax, as i found the substance more manageable and smoother. The mistake I kept making was using translucent powder on top of the glue, and as soon as I used a skin coloured powder it all started to come together a lot easier.
